Billy Joe Wants Out!

Apparently when you have a C-Section scheduled the doctor doesn't routinely check to see if you are dilated or how close you are to labor unless you ask him to. Well, those of you who know me well know that I'm definitely going to ask (the last thing I want to be doing is teaching in front of class when all of a sudden... no sorry kids, I didn't just pee myself my water broke... gotta go!) So anyway at the appointment yesterday my doctor checked to see if there were any signs of labor. Although I'm not dilated yet (thank goodness... I really want to make it until the March 16 scheduled date) the baby's head is completely in my birth canal and ready to go. My doc said that there is a possibility that I may not make it 2 more weeks. However, Aiden was the same way. For three weeks in a row they told me that he would be coming that week because his head was completely in my birth canal too. So, maybe this one will hold off for two more weeks like his big brother did. I'll keep you posted! :)

Snow Day!!!!

Woooo hoooo... we had a SNOW DAY today!!!! Ohhhh, how I LOVE snow days!!!! I started out my day by making Aiden and I pancakes, sausage, and eggs - yummmm! (On a side note, I think we need to start saving our money now for our grocery bill when Aiden becomes a teenager. He out-ate his pregnant mom at breakfast today!) Then I gathered up all of the 0-3 month baby clothes and washed and dried them so they are now all ready for the new baby! It was so weird folding such tiny clothes again.

As I was getting all of the new baby stuff ready today, I pulled out some of Aiden's things to compare them to. It will be so weird to have one child in big boy Pull-Ups while the other is in newborn diapers...

toddler socks vs. infant socks...

toddler sleepers vs. infant sleepers...

big boy bed vs. crib...

Next, I disassembled the infant car seat and put the pads through a gentle cycle of the washing machine and hand cleaned the rest of it. It is now all put back together and ready to go!

Aiden has been the center of our lives for the past 2 1/2 years - it will be so different to have another little addition to our family! I can't wait! I LOVE the baby stage! I can't wait to hold, kiss, hug, love, snuggle, smell (I love the way a baby smells), feed, burp, rock, and share our new baby boy!

This evening I am going to pack a bag for the hospital and then I think/hope I will be completely ready for this little guy to come! According to the ticker at the top of my blog, I still have 25 days before his arrival. Although he can't come early (I have Parent/Teacher conferences next week and the marking period ends the following week so I will have to finalize and post grades) so many people have told me that I look like I have "dropped" in the past few days that I have decided I better be ready to go!

Veggies and Doggie Rides

What do you do when your parents put veggies on your plate and tell you that you need to eat them? Hide them of course! Our little genius over here figured that part out but forgot to take into consideration that the pocket of his bib is see-through. That little stinker!

Aiden loves riding Sparky like a horse. He jumps on his back and commands "Giddy Up!" Sparky bucks him off as quick as he can. The harder Aiden falls the funnier he thinks it is! See for yourself...

Yes, you heard that right. After all that, at the end he says, "I want to do it again!" That's our wild child for you! Many toddlers start getting involved in various activities - we should get Aiden signed up to begin taking Bull Riding lessons!!!! :) :)

Daddy and Aiden

Bryan took Aiden to the Children's Museum on Thursday. As you can tell from the pics Aiden had lots of fun exploring each of the activities.

When they were done, they went to visit the fire station Bryan works at. Aiden had fun "driving" the firetruck and dressing up in daddy's gear.

The Three Little Pigs

Aiden loves to have a story told to him before he goes to bed. His favorite one is "The Three Little Pigs". However, lately instead of me telling him the story the tables have turned and he now tells me the story before he goes to bed. It is so cute! I recorded his version of the story tonight. In typical Aiden fashion, he could not even sit still long enough to tell the story (he is SO FULL OF ENERGY - even just before bedtime) so I apologize ahead of time if you get dizzy trying to watch him.

Happy 1/2 Birthday!

I can't believe Aiden is 2 1/2 today! In a way it seems like we just got done celebrating his 2nd birthday... yet in another way it seems like forever ago. He is growing up so fast I can't believe it.

Another Aiden funny: Aiden LOVES taking a bath and can keep himself entertained for 45 minutes to an hour - enough time to get a good chunk of housework done. He's to the point where I can leave him in the tub unattended as long as I am in the next room and can still hear him. Every so often I will stick my head in the door and ask him, "Are you still doing okay in there?" Yesterday I was taking a shower when Aiden opened up the door to the bathroom and asked "You doing okay in there Mommy?" "Yes!" I replied with a chuckle. "Okay, just checking" he said as he shut the door and left. He cracks me up!

Yesterday after Aiden and I woke up from our naps (have I mentioned how wonderful it is to be able to take naps on the weekends? :) ) I noticed that it was actually 50 degrees outside - HEATWAVE!!!! So, I took a shovel and shoveled the remaining snow off the deck (okay, so I didn't really shovel it off the deck, I just pushed it to the front - hey I'm 8 1/2 months pregnant what did you expect?) and Aiden and I went outside to play. He had so much fun! He especially enjoyed taking the remaining snow and throwing if off of the deck (along with eating some of it! Sparky has not gone out on the deck all winter so it was safe in that regard). He also had fun going as fast as he possibly could in his car and then slamming right into a pile of snow - he is such a boy. I asked him if he had car insurance and his reply was "Ummm, I don't think so." Thank goodness he's not driving any of our vehicles any time soon!

Even though it was a "balmy" 50 degrees outside, we were still cold when we came in and needed some hot chocolate to warm up!

Bad Cookie Monster!

I'm not sure why, but Aiden loves Cookie Monster during the day but at night has nightmares about him. Aiden thinks he lives in our basement and refuses to be down there by himself - screams and hollers if we run upstairs to get something and tell him we will be right back. Any time he hears a strange noise downstairs he asks with a tremble in his voice "That Cookie Monster?" Even though we always reassure him that Cookie Monster is NOT downstairs and that he is a really nice guy Aiden still freaks out about him at night.

For the past three nights in a row Aiden has finally stayed in his bed all night long (he hasn't slept all night long but at least he stayed in his own bed). Then last night he woke up screaming and hollering. When I went into his room to see what the matter was he was sitting up in his bed shaking and told me that Cookie Monster spanked him. Poor kid - he was terrified. I tried to reassure him that Cookie Monster doesn't hit and that he is really nice. To make a long story short, after multiple failed attempts of getting him back to sleep I finally gave in and let him sleep on the floor of our bedroom. UGH! Now I feel like we've taken another step back and we need to keep going forward because the amount of days until "Billy Joe" arrives keeps getting less and less.
