Thank You Caillou!

Thanks to Caillou Aiden is sleeping is his "big boy bed" again! On the weekends Aiden and I take naps together - oh how I LOVE the weekends! Anyway, on Sunday as we were laying in my bed watching some TV winding down for a nap we caught an episode of Caillou. I don't really remember what the episode was about but at one point Caillou went to take a nap. Luckily I zoned back in right in time to notice that Caillou was sleeping in a "big boy bed." I quickly pointed that out to Aiden and made a huge deal about it. Later that evening I went into his bedroom when he wasn't looking and removed all of his floor sleeping gear and moved his pillow, blanket, Woobie, and Mahi to his bed. When it came time to go to sleep for the night I told Aiden that he was going to sleep in his big boy bed just like Caillou. He didn't go for it at first but after I made a huge deal about being just like Caillou he was more for it. I told him that Caillou, his cousins Trenten and Austin, his friend Logan, etc. all slept in big boy beds. "Clifford too?" Aiden asked! "Umm, yeah, sure Clifford sleeps in a big boy bed too," I responded. I was about to confirm that anyone and anything slept in big boy beds at that point! Whatever! It worked!

Aiden only woke up twice during the night Sunday night (but was pretty easy to get back to sleep) and only once last night. The first pic is from Sunday night - as you can tell, even in his sleep, I'm not too sure he was exactly thrilled about it. I think (and hope) that he will sleep better in his bed than on the floor.

On a side note.... here's another Aiden funny. Although Aiden's vocabulary is getting larger and larger every day, he still doesn't know exactly how to use the words correctly in a sentence (poor kid, English is such a hard language). For example, when he wants to do something he says, "My do it" instead of "I do it" or "Daddy pick my up?" instead of "Daddy pick me up?" The other day Sparky was barking at something outside and Aiden's eyes lit up as he said "Sparky woofing! Sparky woofing!" Can't blame him for saying that - when you ask him what does the dog say of course his answer is "woof" so it only makes sense for him to put that together and make the statement "Sparky woofing"! :)

This 'n That

Auntie Ta-Ta came over to hang out with Aiden and I the other night and do some Wii Fit. Of course Aiden wanted to do everything that Auntie was doing so I got him his stool and he attempted to keep up with his Auntie's Yoga poses - so cute!

We have gotten to the point with Aiden that not a whole lot surprises us any more. The kid is a mischievous ball of energy who is always up to something. The other day we discovered money jammed in the gas tank of his fire car.

We have had a ton of snow here in the past two months. As you can see in the pic our deck is over 1/2 full of snow already. The snow flakes were extra big and fluffy the other day so I captured a picture of them. I'm not a huge fan of snow but I do think that the big, fluffy flakes are absolutely beautiful!

One thing I love about where we live is watching all of the deer that roam the fields across the street from our house. Here's a pic that Bryan took the other night - I think we counted over 20 deer that night.

Aiden has never been a good sleeper but lately it has been even worse. He does not want to sleep in his big boy bed anymore. We are trying to be really firm in making sure that he stays in his own room throughout the entire night. Since the big boy bed is a no-go we asked him where he wanted to sleep - on the floor! I have no idea why in the world he would choose the floor over his bed but that is where he has been sleeping for the past two and a half weeks. Whatever! I really don't care where he sleeps as long as it is in his own room. Now we just need to work on making it through the night. He only takes one nap a day and we have put a time limit on it. We are down to six weeks until his little brother arrives so we need to work hard at this!

Here's some pics of Aiden's bath time master piece (don't worry, he used markers that are designed to be used in the bathtub and wash off the walls when he is finished). By the way, the water is not dirty it is from the bathtub fizz colors he got from Christmas.

Here's a recent pic of me. I'm getting huge! The pregnancy is going well but he is doing what his big brother used to do - get up in my ribs which hurts so bad. If only he would stay away from my ribs everything would be just fine. I try rubbing my belly to get him to move but it usually doesn't work very well. With Aiden the only relief I could find was by sitting on one of those great big exercise balls. I'm not sure what it was about it but it would take the pressure off of my ribs. Do you think my principals would mind if I sat on one of those while teaching all day???? :) :)

Aiden Funnies!

As Aiden's vocabulary explodes so do the funny things that come out of his mouth. Here a few examples...
  • Bryan brought some of our larger items that needed to be disposed of to the dump. After he dropped them off, he got back in his truck and Aiden asked him "We at dump daddy?". "Yes, we are at the dump" Bryan replied. Aiden's response back: "Backhoes and loaders and John Deere's... oh daddy the dump is lovely". I think he is probably the only person in this world who thinks the dump is a lovely place! Of course it wasn't the trash that caught his attention but instead all of the large equipment - what little boy wouldn't like the dump?

  • The next day my sister asked Aiden if he went to the dump. "Oh yes Ta-Ta! It was beautiful!" he replied.

  • Aiden and Sparky are best buds. The poor dog puts up with a lot of abuse from Aiden but is so good natured that he takes it all. One night Aiden wrapped his arms around Sparky and announced to me, "Sparky is my puppy. Not yours. Not yours either daddy. He's my puppy."

  • My sister was taking care of Aiden the other day when Aiden asked her where her husband, Casey, was. She told him that he was working. "Why?" asked Aiden. "So he can make money." Krista replied. "Oh, so he can ride the horsey at Meijer?" was Aiden's conclusion. That's why we all go to work, right?

Birthdate!

It's official. Our precious baby boy will be born on March 16, 2009 at noon! (That is IF he doesn't decide to have a mind of his own and come earlier!) At my doctor's appointment yesterday my c-section was officially scheduled with both my doctor and the hospital. It's so exciting to know when he will be coming but yet so weird. At this point in my pregnancy with Aiden I had no idea when he would decide it was time to come. Now, with this one, I know the exact date and time - that is so strange to me. Being the organized pre-planner that I am this is probably a good thing because I can be totally prepared - both at work and at home.

All of my test results (glucose tolerance, hemoglobin, thyroid, etc.) came back excellent and my blood pressure and weight are right on track! As a matter of fact, the nurse practitioner said that my hemoglobin level was probably the best she has ever seen in a pregnant woman. She commented that I must be taking my prenatal vitamins faithfully. That's for sure - I'm VERY conscientious about taking them because I want my baby to be as healthy as possible! So far everything is going very well! The only thing I'm worried about is that he is starting to get into my ribs. He jams himself so high up in my uterus that it hurts. The memory of that exact same pain from Aiden is all too fresh in my head. Aiden did the exact same thing and it hurt sooooo bad. Sometimes I am able to coax him into a new position just by rubbing my belly but soon I know h
e will be too big and won't have any other choice as to where he goes. Let the fun begin! :)

I'm thrilled that the date will be March 16 because then our baby will share a birthday with his Great-Grandpa Hauch (Bryan's Grandpa).
So get out your highlighters, stickers, and markers and mark this on your calendars! We can't wait for all of you to meet our new bundle of joy!

Preparing for a New Roommate

We set up the new crib for "Billy Joe" the other night - I say we but really all I did was read the directions to Bryan and hand him the right parts while he did all the work - Aiden was right there by Bryan's side trying to help. At one point, while turning the allen wrench, Aiden announced "I making crib for my baby brother"... SO cute! At this point he is excited to have a new roommate... only time will tell if that holds true!

For those of you who have been in "Aiden's room" before, I'll try to explain the changes we have made. We left Aiden's "big boy bed" where it was, moved the dresser/changing table to the other side of the room so it is now next to his bed, put the new crib up where the dresser/changing table used to be and moved the mini storage unit with the CD player next to the crib. You will have to stop by to see all of the changes!
Here's a close-up pic of Aiden's new quilt for his big boy bed.

More Flood Pics

I was downloading pics from my camera today and found some from the flood a few weeks ago that I forgot to post...

It was weird to look out the window and see ducks swimming in our backyard.

Thank You!

Bryan, Aiden, and I would like to thank everyone who has called, sent us cards, brought us meals, sent flowers/plants, prayed for us, came to the visitation and/or funeral. Your support has meant a lot to us and has helped us make it through the past week. It has been extremely difficult to lose such a wonderful person. We know that the coming days, weeks, months, and years will be hard without our Mom/Grandma but it helps to know that we have such great family and friends who are there to support us. Thank you for everything!

Mom absolutely loved and adored her grandchildren. Here she is holding Aiden when he was 10 weeks old. We love and miss you!
